Core Values
Because Christ is Lord of all, we believe that . . .
1. Dynamic Biblical preaching and teaching is the catalyst for transforming individual lives and the church.
“God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21)
“I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16)
2. Excellence honors God and inspires people.
“Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else...” (Galatians 6:4)
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the
Lord, not men.” (Colossians 3:23)
3. Loving relationships are vital to spiritual health.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
4. God loves us as we are, but loves us too much to leave us that way.
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus...” (Ephesians 2:4-6)
5. Lost people matter to God; therefore, they ought to matter to the church.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10)
“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10)
6. The church should be culturally relevant, while remaining doctrinally pure.
“Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
7. Who you are is more important then what you know or what you do.
“Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:2)
8. Full devotion to Christ is normal for every believer.
“We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” (Colossians 1:28)
9. Worship is a lifestyle expressed with private consistency and corporate vibrancy.
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)
10. All Christians are ministers and should serve in a manner consistent with their gifts.
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.” (Romans
12:6a)
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter)
